How It Started
This web site has been established with one thing in mind in trying to share various information to different target audience in a more convenient way. In addition to this, a lot has been documented but cluttered over different many sources with no way in organizing the documentation in a structured way. With selected information only allowed to be viewed by selected target audience, it needs also a way to protect the information from unauthorized access. This web presence was not easy to establish as looking for the right solution in trying to address these deficiencies.
The Journey
It has been a long journey of many years in using different open source projects including Drupal, Wordpress, Joomla and other smaller software solutions already forgotten in the dark. Each of the solutions has their pros and cons and some of them may have matured over the years since evaluated but among the many products out in the wild, one has so far proven to be simple, feature rich, well documented, community supported and the best part is to be open source at no cost. Yes, this web site is powered by Grav CMS because of its simplicity and effectiveness and is highly customizable.
One part of the journey to share with is using Drupal as the first web project in making a wedding web site called A Wedding Story. Although the web site could be finalized before the big day, the learning curve was very steep and required a lot of technical know-how in order to get the site up and running. The flexibility as thought was the reason to start with Drupal has to be paid off with the complexity encountered during this project. Drupal was more a web framework targeted to web developers rather than a ready-made CMS for web publishers. Several customizations were required to make the web site acceptable in its look and feel. The effort spent behind was not that worth and therefore using Drupal for later projects has been dropped.
